Position Purpose:
The Digital Health Strategist is an advisor and expert within the HIMSS Digital Health Advisory community responsible for providing strategic thought leadership and consultative expertise to drive the digital health transformation of healthcare providers, regional systems, and global organizations. This role is instrumental in advancing the global health ecosystem by fostering partnerships, guiding stakeholders through complex digital health strategies, and delivering tailored advisory solutions. The Digital Health Strategist is responsible for assessing digital health maturity, defining transformation roadmaps, and driving measurable outcomes through HIMSS tools, frameworks, and educational resources. As a thought leader, this individual will help to shape the future of digital health maturity models, influence industry standards, and mentor the next generation of digital health advisors.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Lead high-impact, consultive engagements for single—and multi-facility health systems and regional and jurisdictional healthcare networks, focusing on digital health transformation strategies.
- Collaborate with executive leaders to identify and solve complex organizational challenges, ensuring alignment with global trends and regulatory demands.
- Influence the evolution of HIMSS digital health maturity models by contributing forward-thinking product enhancement recommendations to ensure HIMSS products address industry challenges, trends, and regulations.
- Use multiple sources of information, including broader stakeholder views, to develop solutions and recommendations.
- Use data and insights to inform conclusions and support decision-making.
- Engagement level financial accountability, including schedule and revenue recognition responsibility.
- Analyze case studies and supporting data to assess current digital maturity and outcomes, then develop tailored recommendations to improve performance and align desired outcomes with business objectives through digital health transformation advisory services.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to create case studies demonstrating organizational impact and transformation outcomes.
- Lead advisory (market intelligence and guidance, product and service alignment to HIMSS maturity models, etc.) and custom education services for HIMSS Digital Health Technology Partners.
- Mentor and develop Digital Health Advisor roles.
What you will need to be successful:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree (Ph.D., MD, DNP, DHA) required. Clinical licensure preferred. Technology certifications preferred.
- 16+ years of experience in a healthcare-related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a consulting or advisory services-related field, or 5 years of experience operationalizing organization-wide changes within a health system.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in health system (hospital, clinic, or public health) operations or informatics role leveraging advancements in digital health technology to accelerate achievement of strategic clinical, operational, and financial outcomes.
- Advanced understanding of the digital health ecosystem and its stakeholders.
- Existing network and relationships with healthcare industry organizations and executives.
- Strong decision-making, analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and negotiating skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with strong personal integrity.
- Availability to travel up to 50% on average
